An integrative approach
Your massage will never be a cookie-cutter experience.
Each session is a blend of modalities based on what best fits your treatment goals for that day.
Learn about the techniques I draw from below.
Deep Tissue Massage
The massage therapist uses fingers, knuckles, forearms, and elbows to apply pressure to the affected areas. Stretching and joint mobilization techniques are sometimes incorporated. Cupping therapy and/or Gua Sha may also be incorporated into your treatment. (Read about these modalities below).
Benefits:
● Pain reduction
● Muscle tension relief
● Improved posture
● Enhanced mobility
● Decreased stress and anxiety
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage uses long gliding strokes throughout the body. It may also include kneading, tapping, friction, and gentle stretching of the muscles. The massage therapist typically applies oil or lotion on the client's skin to reduce friction and allow smooth movements. Hot stones, warm towels, and aromatherapy are all complementary and may be incorporated during your massage. A classic treat.
Benefits:
● Stress reduction and increased relaxation
● Improved circulation
● Relief from muscle tension
● Increased flexibility
Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage
In ashiatsu massage the therapist uses their feet in place of their hands. This method allows for a broad, even pressure that results in an “ironed out” and deeply relaxing feeling. Ashi Thai techniques–a combination of compression and passive stretching–are often incorporated into the session. Ashiatsu barefoot massage is a great option if you’re looking for a deeper massage.
Benefits:
● Reduction of chronic pain
● Improved flexibility
● Relaxation and stress reduction
● Decreased muscle tension and tightness
Myofascial Release
Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, and bones. Through gentle and sustained pressure, this technique releases restrictions and adhesions within the fascia.
Benefits:
● Muscle relaxation
● Pain relief
● Increased range of motion
● Improved physical performance
● Enhanced overall well-being and muscular health
Cupping Therapy
Cupping (also known as myofascial decompression) is an ancient alternative treatment that involves placing suction cups on the skin. This process creates a partial vacuum which lifts and separates muscle fibers and connective tissue. Cupping can increase blood flow to affected areas, break up scar tissue, and release tight muscles.
Benefits:
● Improved circulation
● Increased flexibility and mobility
● Muscle tension relief
● Pain relief
● Improved digestion (e.g., relief from constipation, bloating, etc.)
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a myofascial therapy technique that has its origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine. A smooth-edged tool is used to gently scrape the skin’s surface where there are areas of tension in fascia and connective tissue. In addition to the specific benefits below, it is believed to promote overall healing and restore balance in the body.
Benefits:
● Improved circulation
● Decreased inflammation
● Reduced muscle tension
